Optics – Iran

Unfortunately, each of us is stuck in the fantastical reality show of a deranged flimflam man who somehow convinced a whole lot of people to entrust him with the United States of America, the most powerful nation on earth.

I’m not going to discuss whether going to war in Iran is a good idea. I’m simply going to point out the obvious contempt this con man has for the rest of us.

Such as …

He addressed the nation in his “State of the Union” Tuesday night. He barely mentioned Iran in passing.

He waited until Congress left D.C. to launch an attack on Iran and start another U.S. war in the Middle East.

He didn’t bother to stay in D.C. in a secure setting with our intelligence apparatus at his side, or our military leaders.

Instead, he launched this new war in the Middle East from his non-secured golf resort in Florida.

He didn’t announce this attack to the nation on any official government channel. Instead, he used his privately owned social media company to play a pre-recorded message.

He waited until almost everyone in the nation was asleep to play his recording in the middle of the night. Surprise!

He didn’t wear a tie.

He wore a baseball cap drawn low over his eyes.

He gave unsubstantiated reasons for launching this new war.

What he said directly to the Iranian people made no sense.

He off-handedly mentioned we (U.S. military) may suffer casualties. This morning reports are that three service people have been killed — as in lost their lives.

He hosted a fundraiser at his golf resort in Florida last night as our service people were in harm’s way being injured or dying.

Here we go again. Lost lives and treasure on stupid wars.

Did you notice that I didn’t say his name? I’m not going to say his name.

Don’t bother trying to convince anyone this is a good idea or not. Don’t try to extrapolate the pros and cons and likely unintended consequences.

Instead, look forward to the day that a majority of the American people open their eyes and realize that we deserve better than this. I remain confident that enough of them will — hopefully, before it is too late.
